Work is well underway on a massive natural gas pipeline project between Erie and Ashtabula Counties. Erie-based RH energytrans began developing the $86 million project in early 2017. Erie News Now found crews Wednesday in wooded areas off Route 6N digging and clearing debris with large equipment. Right now, about 30 miles of pipeline stretch from the Meadville area to a compression station. The new 30 miles will continue from the Edinboro area to North Kingsville, Ohio in Ashtabula County. Each day, the line would pump enough natural gas to supply more than 550 homes for the entire year. Gas could start flowing through the new pipeline sometime this year.
